Aaron Meyer's Annual Holiday Concert Series A Perfect Wrapping For His CD Release and Free Music Education Workshop

The Northwest's own "concert rock violinist" will return to Downtown's First Congregational Church for a series of Holiday concerts coinciding with the release of his latest CD "Do You Hear What I Hear." Over the weekend of Friday, December 18, Aaron Meyer will perform three shows with his seven piece concert rock orchestra featuring renowned guitarist and producer, Tim Ellis. The concerts will be a mix of traditional favorites and original compositions infused with Meyer's unique mix of classical, progressive rock and world music influences.

At noon on Saturday he and Ellis will offer a one hour Music Education Program for young people looking for a behind the scenes introduction to the concert stage or who want to learn more about music. The class will be free to the first 700 students and presented by the Oregon Music Hall of Fame. Students can sign up for this program by registering on aaronmeyer.com

The concert series is in its 9th year. Meyer will perform on acoustic and electric violin and will be accompanied by Tim Ellis, gospel quartet The Brown Sisters, pianist Jean-Pierre Garau, with extended orchestral percussion provided by Mike Snyder.

Meyer's new Holiday CD, "Do You Hear What I Hear," features traditional seasonal favorites such as "Good King Wenceslas" and "Still, Still, Still" arranged with world music influences as diverse as Bollywood and Eastern Europe. The album has 10 tracks, including an original song, "This Christmas Day." It was recorded at Portland's Kung Fu Bakery recording studio with engineering by Dean Baskerville whose credits include Cheryl Crow and Everclear.
