Third Angle New Music Ensemble's fourth and final concert of the 2008/09 season is An Evening with Composer Jennifer Higdon. Higdon and her former composition student, Chris Rogerson, will interact with Third Angle musicians and audience members from the stage.
Hailed by critic Scott MacClelland said, "Higdon has raced to the head of the class among remarkably gifted American composers of her generation."
Higdon was recently honored with her second Grammy award. Third Angle will welcome Higdon with a special evening featuring some of her most moving chamber music as well as works by three up-and-coming composers who were under her tutelage at The Curtis Institute of Music.
Higdon maintains a full schedule of commissions and her music is known for its technical skill and audience appeal. She is one of America's most frequently performed composers - enjoying more than 200 performances a year.
Third Angle's season so far has been highly praised. Take a look at their City Dance performance at TBA 2008 and Maximum Minimalism last January. Since 1985, Third Angle has presented more than 95 programs of contemporary music, commissioned more than 25 new works and released nine recordings to critical acclaim. These achievements firmly establish the ensemble as one of the Northwest's foremost presenters of contemporary American music.
