Top Picks for the Week of November 13th

In TheatersPirate Radio
An interesting story (based on actual events), great music and fun, with great acting. You won't be rolling on the floor laughing but you will be grooving and chuckling all the way though Pirate Radio. Outstanding cast as well; Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy and Nick Frost pilot this ship.
2012
Entering the level of ultimate disaster movie, 2012 is the poprocks of eye candy...inside of your eyeballs. Roland Emmerich directs and if you didn't like his Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow or 10,000 BC, you defiantly won't like 2012 .
On DVD/Blu Ray
Up
Pixar movies are always a safe bet (if we can forget Cars ever happened), and Wall-E was my favorite movie of 2008, which made Up a hard follow. Because of this, I wasn't sure at first but looking back, Up is a great movie. It holds the basic Pixar-winning-formula of; heart, all age humor, story and visually fun. If you can ignore the bar that Wall-E raised, Up is a great pick for the week. Pixar's Monsters, Inc. is out on Blu Ray this week as well.
Merry Gentleman
Thirty years of acting under Micheal Keaton's belt shows in his directorial debut with Merry Gentleman. The story is concise, the dialogue is sharp and the building tension takes hold of you. On the run from an abusive husband, Kate Frazier (Kelly Macdonald) settles in Chicago in search of a better life. She meets Frank Logan (Keaton), a man who is tormented by a dark secret. The two are kindred spirits, and a tentative friendship forms. But, as events unfold, Frank is forced to confront his past, while Kate struggles to find the strength she needs to stand on her own.
Re-releases new on Blu Ray this week is an amazing Jim Henson fantasy pack. Purchase individually or in a single collection: The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and the much underrated Mirrormask. Say Anything... is celebrating 20 years with an amazing blu ray transfer and extra features including interview with director Cameron Crow (Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous), 20 year retrospective short and 38 minutes of deleted/extended scenes.
