New in Theaters

Disney's A Christmas Carol Disney knows how to celebrate Christmas and even more on the story of A Christmas Carol. Heck, one of their main characters is named after the story. Scrooge McDuck has been scrounging money for over 60 years. Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump and Polar Express) brings a lot of heart and depth to this classic Dickens tale. Visually, the motion capture, CGI/3D animation is an overwhelming, dingy rollercoaster ride. The story makes up for the look and Disney's A Christmas Carol is a great family treat for the 2009 holiday season. Read more in Robin Wright Penn Still Wowed By Magic Of Robert Zemeckis

the boxThe Box is a new film by writer/director Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko and Southland Tales) is a thrilling piece of work with an ultimate question of morality. A suburban couple, Norma (Cameron Diaz) and Arthur (James Marsden), face a moral dilemma when they receive a gift that bears irrevocable consequences. With the press of a button, their simple wooden box will bestow $1 million; however, someone they don't know will die, at the same time. The Box doesn't even compete with Darko's story and intensity but easily leaves Southland Tales in the dust. The Fourth Kind is another fizzled thriller out Friday. I would save you money and wait to see both films on cable . Read more in Marsden Thinks Outside 'The Box'

Men Who Stare at GoatsMen Who Stare at Goatsis witty, funny and a satirical look at the military war machine. Execlent performance by George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor and Kevin Spacey. Struggling reporter Bob Wilton (McGregor) gets the scoop of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady (Clooney), who claims to be from a unit of psychic soldiers who have been reactivated for duty. Intrigued by Cassady's assertions that they can walk through walls and kill goats by fixed gazes, Wilton follows him on a dangerous, top-secret mission across Iraq to find the brigade's founder, Bill Django .

Adventures of Power In an era where near-air-guitar gaming is pop culture, why not professional air drumming competitions? Adventures of Power is the story of a mine-worker named Power (Ari Gold, also writes and directs) whose lack of musical skill and love for drums has turned him into the ridiculed "air drummer" of his small town. But when Power's union-leader father calls a strike at the mine, Power discovers an underground subculture of air-drummers who just might hold the key to changing the world. Power's journey across America brings him face-to-face with his town's greatest enemy, and allows him to discover the beat within his own heart. If you love Napoleon Dynamite, you will love Power, if you can't stand Rush, you might think twice. Come to the showing at Cinema 21 early for an Adventures of Power "Air-Anything" Contest beginning at 8:15pm, Friday November 5, 2009 (admission to the contest is free with a ticket to the 9pm screening). Ari Gold will also be at the Friday showing and answering questions following film.

Flame & Citron The Danish film Flame & Citron brings to the screen actual events of two of the most active resistance fighters of World War II. Assassins known as Flame and Citron, hunt down Nazis and Danes who collaborate with them. Almost a real life Inglourious Basterds if you will. Flame & Citron is a compelling powerhouse and a perfect action thriller. You will be pulled into WWII and left there long after you leave the theater. (Living Room Theater only)

New on Blu Ray/DVD
If you take one movie home this week, it must be You're Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush starring Will Ferrell. One of few missed components of George W. Bush's eight year run is Ferrell impeccable portrayal of him. You're Welcome is Ferrell's one man show, live from the Broadway's Cort Theater. For the 115 of hilarious minutes, Will Ferrell never breaks character and keeps you laughing for the entire run. If you are still holding a bit of frustration from Bush's run, this is the perfect relief to ease it away.

Food, Inc.Food, Inc. is a documentary by authors Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma) who expose corporate monopolies in food production, which could lead to serious health and environmental problems.

Eddie Izzard: Live from Wembley is a great stand up performance by two time Emmy award winner, Eddie Izzard (Chronicles of Narnia and the Ocean Trilogy). This is a select collection of his four night performance at Wembley Arena in London. Do note that Izzard is a transvestite and performs in drag everyonce in a while, but don't let that distract you from his not-too-dry, witty humor.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is out as well. You can rent it if you want . . . I wouldn't.
