Introduce Yourself and your Brewery
I am Matt Schumacher owner of the Alameda Brewhouse. We are a small brewery located in NE Portland. We are a sustainable business with one organic ale our El Torero I.P.A. It is important to be a sustainable business simply it is good for our community and the future for our children.
Tell us about your sustainable and Organic practices:
We basically recycle almost everything in our business. We were one of the first businesses to compost food waste, recycle oil into bio-diesel, and feed cattle with our spent grain.
What will you be serving at the Brewers Festival?
We will be serving our Organic I.P.A. at the festival.
What is your favorite beer made at your brewery?
My favorite ale that we make is our Klickitat Pale Ale.
Can you taste a difference between and Organic and non-organic beer?
I don't think anyone can tell the difference between a well crafted ale whether it is organic or not.
What should a consumer know about buying sustainable/organic brews?
If a person is looking to purchase beer that is sustainable or organic the key is know your brewery, and buy local one of the best sustainable attribute in this economy is your neighbors jobs.
